About The Role

The Sustainable Sourcing Manager will provide support and subject matter expertise on matters relating to sustainable sourcing, particularly relating to seafood, deforestation and water, and lead on supplier sustainability engagement. The role will report to the Senior Manager, Sustainability, and sit within the Corporate Services division.  

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage and report on the Sustainable Sourcing Pillar of Sustain
  •  Manage and facilitate the Morrisons approach to engaging with key suppliers on Sustain
  • Deliver the 2025 Zero Deforestation commitment
  • Delivery of sustainable fisheries business plan including liaison with technical, commercial teams and manufacturing teams and NGO reporting.
  • Management of the company commitment on water use as per Courtauld 2030
  • Review and update as required all sustainable sourcing policies
  • Management of the WRAP: water roadmap commitment
  • Participation in and communication with UK groups on soy and palm oil.
  • Maintain awareness of peer group activity and industry trends to ensure Morrisons’ retains its position for sustainable sourcing and contribute to horizon scanning and stakeholder analysis
  • Manage and produce reports (internal and external) in line with relevant Sustain objectives and industry commitments
  • Research and preparation of business briefing documents, projects and reports on topics of corporate responsibility concern as required.

About You

Role Specific Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

Knowledge:

  • Understanding of sustainability issues in a retail environment
  • Understanding of reporting and data presentation
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and statutory requirements.
  • Strong understanding of reporting and carbon measurement
  • Strong awareness of risks related to deforestation and water

Skills

●      Strong presentation, oral and written communications skills

●      Stakeholder management, influencing and negotiation skills.

●      Strong background using excel to manage large sets of data

●      Strong organisational, planning and  skills, able to adjust to changing deadlines or priorities

●      Project management including planning, delivery and reporting

●      Flexible self starter and able to multitask across a number of project streams and business areas

●      Influencing and engaging skills at all levels of management, ability to build trusted relationships

●      Proactive attitude and willingness to develop own skill set and knowledge through coaching, feedback, mentoring and on the job training

Experience

●      Experience of delivering environment and/or sustainability projects within a business, ideally in an FMCG or retail environment

●      Knowledge and experience of sourcing and sustainability practices

Experience in project delivery, analysing data, researching topics and preparing reports
