About The Role

We’ve got a fantastic opportunity for a Planner to join the Transport Team at our Wakefield office. Reporting to the Planning Manager you will be responsible for producing individual Driver schedules that will implement the overall Transport plan for the Wakefield operation.

Here at Morrisons our Transport Planners do the following:

Ensure all deliveries and collections are in line with planned requirements.
Provide problem solving guidance on any operational issues such as late changes to plans and compliance with policies and procedures
Plan and manage resources to deliver a cost effective delivery service.
Produce individual plans for particular drivers within an overall plan.
Analyse the plan against actual schedules to understand areas of improvement.
Maintain compliance and conformance for safe working practices and working time regulations.
Ensure policies and procedures are followed at all times.
Ensure the completion of all associated records and reports and highlight any inaccuracies, issues or complaints
Proactively identify opportunities for improved operational efficiencies
Organising shunters and ensuring that vehicles and trailers are available when needed.

About You

To be successful you should have excellent communication and analytical skills and experience of producing reports.

Experience of planning a large and successful transport operation along with an understanding of planning system Paragon would be advantageous.

At this huge distribution site in Wakefield that covers 1.2 million square feet, our team of 1,300 colleagues sends out our products to 194 stores.

Here we store and dispatch ambient goods, bread and fresh and frozen food. Everything from frozen chips to cans of mushy peas. 2.7 million cases go out of here every week, which can rise to 5 million when we're super busy. At this site, we also recycle waste and have VMU and InMotion Backhaul teams.
