About The Role

Morrisons is recruiting for a Retail Accountant to work closely to provide critical finance support to our Retail business area - working closely with stakeholders at all levels from colleagues in stores to our retail field teams.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Analysing weekly and periodic data to determine key drivers of regional and store performance. Including financial and non financial metrics

  • Presenting findings to finance and non finance stakeholders,  in a detailed and articulate manner in both verbal and written communications.

  • Business partnering regional managers to provide ad hoc and structured financial decision support, visiting stores where required to provide deeper understanding of analysis.

  • Compiling weekly updates to stakeholders ensuring accuracy in information and investigating discrepancies, opportunities for performance improvement.

  • Scrutinising store P&Ls to highlight profitability risks and opportunities, understanding the impact of decisions across the P&L.

  • Supporting on retail projects to provide financial insight in order to improve different groups of stores.

  • Liaise with central retail finance teams to update and improve reporting for retail stores and field teams.

About You

Role Specific Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  A professional qualification of CIMA, ACA, ACCA, AAT or equivalent

  Experience of non-financial stakeholder management  

  Attention to detail  

  An ability to deliver in a complex, fast paced environment  

  Excellent analytical thinking and numerical skills  

  Excellent Microsoft Excel or Google sheets skills  

  Good verbal communication skills, ability to articulate financial data in a clear and transparent way  

  Resilience and ability to adapt in an ever changing environment 

  Experience of having to prioritise to meet deadlines  

  Previous experience of supporting the delivery of finance plans and budgets
