About The Role

We're recruiting for a Technical/Celox Machine Operative to join our busy manufacturing site in Thrapston, Northamptonshire. You will work as part of the production team and alongside all site support functions to optimise machine performance, ensuring health and safety, food safety and hygiene standards at all times. It's fast paced, high volume and extremely demanding.


Reporting into a Team Manager you will:

  • Physically build machines on multiple production lines, conduct system set up and calibration to achieve optimum settings to produce excellent products for our customers.
  • Complete safe and legal paperwork, checks and monitor machines to ensure efficiency targets are achieved
  • Make operational changes to increase yield and provide right levels of raw materials whilst minimising waste and maximising load value
  • Have key product knowledge linked to seasonal variations in crop driving key decisions in line setup and robotics speeds to enable the team managers to make operational changes
  • Review data and performance of the specific automation to drive a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
  • Amend machine setting changes to maximise reliability and efficiency
  • Reduce reactive breakdown time spent by the engineering team, providing faster operational support
  • Complete mechanical and electrical maintenance improvements and asset care including first fix breakdown, fault finding, preventative maintenance working with  key stakeholders to drive operational excellence.
  • Work collaboratively with the site operational and engineering teams supporting projects, improving plant productivity and root cause analysis of breakdowns
  • Working independently or as part of a team on actioning repairs and breakdowns.
  • Championing a proactive asset care and continuous improvement culture and building the capability of the team
  • Handle and package products in accordance with all relevant food safety standards and comply with company policies for Health and Safety, Security, Hygiene standards and cleaning schedules
  • Maintain Oracle compliance to ensure no negative impact on profit and loss

About You

As well as the ability to work in a fast paced environment you will:

  • Hold an NVQ in mechanical / electrical engineering or have the equivalent experience
  • Have operational related experience from a comparable hands on role
  • Demonstrate a keen understanding and passion for business improvement and mechanical / electrical maintenance
  • Strong root cause analysis and understanding of KPI’s
  • Have the ability to use problem solving skills to recognises trends and make longer term fixes/suggestions to improve efficiency and product quality
  • Excellent communication skills with the knowledge to write SOP’s
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem solving skills and logical approach to completing tasks
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment producing quality, food safe products for customers
  • Flexible to work on days and shifts
  • Operating and applying knowledge over a number of lines and products
  • Working in a production environment with varying temperatures approx. 8 degrees and below and comfortable wearing PPE at all times
