About The Role

We are currently recruiting for an Ethical Trading Manager to work within our Corporate Services department, based in our Nutmeg Office, in Coalville. 


Reporting to the Corporate Affairs Director the Manager will provide expert advice, guidance and support to the Nutmeg business to ensure that human rights risks in clothing and general merchandise (GM) are identified and mitigated and that the Morrisons Ethical Trading Policy is met throughout the supply chain.  


Working with internal and external stakeholders to meet these objectives, drive improvements and monitor/report progress. To represent Morrisons on relevant external working groups to ensure our strategy is consistent with sector best practice. Engage with commercial teams and suppliers to drive improvements.


This will be a permanent, full time role.

 

Our office teams enjoy a  ‘4 day working week’. The working pattern is 4 days per week of 9 hours per day. There is also a requirement to work 1 in 4 Saturdays/ or 13 per year (6 hours).



Responsibilities (this list is not exhaustive);


  • Identifying and mitigating human rights risks in Morrisons clothing and general merchandise supply chains 

  • Leading the development of strategy to reduce inherent risk in Morrisons clothing and general merchandise supply chains and drive improvements

  • Developing and delivering the processes and procedures for supplier selection against a risk based ethical trading framework, to inform decision-making on whether Morrisons can trade with suppliers and any conditions of improvement

  • Overall ethical trading management of suppliers, ensuring sites have been audited where necessary, corrective action plans are implemented and ongoing monitoring is in place

  • Adding value to the business by providing objective ethical trading expertise

  • Positively enhancing brand reputation through management of NGO relationships and inclusion in external metrics and media reporting

  • Staying up to date with trends and emerging human rights and ethical trading issues in clothing and general merchandise

  • Participation in relevant external programmes and networks which add value. 

  • Developing and delivering supplier training resources and activities covering Morrisons ethical trading requirements and emerging risks, issues and trends

  • Influencing and taking a practical approach with internal stakeholders to achieve the common goal of improving ethical trading standards in the Morrisons supply chain

  • Develop and deliver bespoke training and support for clothing and general merchandise Commercial and Supply Chain colleagues



About You
 

Requirements;


  • Experience of working in an ethical trading/responsible sourcing field, preferably in a garment or apparel retail context.

  • Background in working with and influencing NGOs and external bodies.

  • Excellent knowledge and insight of ethical trading and human rights including competitor approaches and performance, emerging risks and issues. 

  • Knowledge of Sedex and/or other ethical trading supplier management system

  • Highly credible and self motivated individual.

  • Strong influencing skills to persuade internal and external stakeholders.

  • Excellent communication skills and confident communicator in all types of external forum.

  • Effective builder of networks across NGOs and influential stakeholders.

  • Well-honed data analysis skills with keen attention to detail.
