About The Role
Due to continued growth our award winning wine team has a new opportunity for a dynamic, forward thinking individual to join Morrisons as an Assistant Wine Sourcer, working in a supporting capacity to help secure some of the best and tastiest wines for our Morrisons stores.
As a wine sourcing assistant, you'll be expected to: 
Reserve Management
  • Manage supplier base to coordinate receiving monthly reserve balances
  • Maintain up to date reserve balances on Reserve Spreadsheet
  • Alert Sourcing Managers to potential issues to allow corrective action to be taken
  • Management of “Trip pack” process
  • Sourcing review/vintage approval critical path management

Awards management

  • Managing awards entry process and analysis
  • Management of competition fee supplier reimbursement process.


  • Drive PR awareness of our wines
  • Selection of wines for ad-hoc PR requests for approval with Sourcing Managers
  • Nominations for Wine Subscription Boxes
  • Maintaining up to date information for Wine Operations, e.g. Online Images, MINS, Live Vintages etc.

On line

  • Maintenance of accurate information for our on-line offer e.g. images

In store media

  • Verification of accuracy of in store POS.
  • Compiling copy as necessary

Selling beyond price projects

  • Management of Selling Beyond price projects as required e.g. Wine Adviser trial, Best Wine Guarantee, On pack QR codes


  • Sample Management
  • SEL process management


About You

Ideally you'll be:

  • Ambitious candidates who can demonstrate strong commercial skills
  • Proven experience working as a Buying Assistant with exposure to negotiating with Suppliers
  • A working knowledge of wine is essential
  • Ideally you will have some knowledge of the retail supply chain
  • Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to build effective relationships with various stakeholders

New Ways of Working
The wellbeing of our colleagues is really important to us and we want everyone to have a great home and work life balance. Because of this we've introduced a four day working week for all full time colleagues based at our head office in Bradford.
You’ll be able to flex your working hours around the core hours of 10am-4pm, and can choose to do different hours each day as long as you’re covering these core hours. Each four day week will contain four average nine hour days.
To be more competitive and support our stores and sites more effectively, we now work over a six day operation, Monday to Saturday inclusive, and everyone in our head office now works one Saturday in every four (or 13 a year), albeit Saturday will be a shorter working day of 6 hours.
Your non-working day will need to fit in with the business needs so more information about this and which day you'd take off will be discussed at your interview.
