About The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Manager - New Store Development (Construction and Project Delivery) to join the tea


The successful candidate will provide professional leadership and direction to the project delivery team throughout the UK on new stores, fresh look refurbishments, modular, petrol filling stations, extensions, regional distribution and manufacturing, third party retail schemes and special bespoke projects. Leading the team to deliver quality projects, on time and within budget while adhering to the core values and governance of Morrisons.


Work/life balance is important to us. This role will benefit from a 4 day week of 9 hours per day.

 
The role holder will be required to cover projects predominantly across the north of England, and Scotland.

Ideally we are looking for someone based North of Manchester.

There is also a requirement to work 1 in 4 Saturdays, or 13 per year (for 6 hours) in the Bradford head office.



Role Responsibilities:


  • Direct and review architects procedures in developing planning applications that meet statutory governance for retail, Logistics and Manufacturing

  • Define, plan and deliver all assigned construction projects to the agreed scope, programme and quality

  • Assure the technical drawings for off-site highway works and Section 278 ; that the design team comply with CDM legal requirements and that agreements are in place to allow works to complete in line with plan

  • Prepare construction reports for Property Director and Senior Project Manager - Construction when required

  • Consult with key stakeholders where business critical operations are impacted. Develop plans to minimise disruption and business interruption

  • Recruit and deploy internal and external stakeholder resources, in conjunction with procurement, to deliver successful projects

  • Lead and motivate the project teams, providing technical support to team on construction queries, store design and equipment specifications

  • Attend regular Design Team and Site meetings to monitor progress of the works, whilst upholding the interest of Morrisons and promote industry best practice across the team

  • Deliver Morrison’s mission statement to improve the shopping experience to customers through ease of shop and improved product quality and availability

  • Effectively organise and implement extensions to existing buildings where complex solutions are required to maintain existing trading patterns; maintain an appropriate environment for colleagues working in store and customers

  • Scope projects; develop programmes and establish governance for reporting to ensure stakeholders and project teams clearly understand expectations of both programme and their responsibilities therein.



About You

Requirements:


  • A construction related qualification to degree level and/or, membership of a recognised construction professional body (Such as RICS/CIOB) 

  • A proven track record of delivering complex construction projects, preferably within retail, logistics and manufacturing businesses including new build developments ranging from developer leasehold projects to Morrisons led freehold projects.

  • Significant experience within Retail related industry with knowledge or a background within construction , building services, refrigeration, electrical and mechanical (desirable)

  • People management experience, guidance and development of high performing teams

  • A general understanding of building, planning and highway legislation and procedure , Health and Safety

  • The ability to seek customer perceptions and motivations to inform and drive improvements

  • Matrix management – leading through diverse teams 

  • Lead Programme and project management 

  • The ability to work with multi-million pound budgets and an appreciation for financial budgets and investment appraisals

  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills

  • Adaptable and comfortable working within a fast-paced environment with lots of change
