About The Role

We’ve got a fantastic new opening for a Health & Safety Senior Manager with Property experience to join our Head Office in Bradford. Reporting to the Safety & Compliance Director.

This is an important role leading Morrisons Group Property Strategy for Safety, resulting in clear standards and processes that ensure safe buildings and sites for our colleagues and customers.

The role will also lead the audit and compliance processes to verify safety standards are met during planning, building, installation and maintenance for over 500 Stores, Depots, and Food Factories. 

This role requires relevant property related experience, strong reporting skills as well as excellent communication skills to identify and escalate issues in the event of any non-compliance. And of course good influencing skills to achieve practicable and timely solutions. 

The working pattern will be 4 days per week of 9 hours per day, based in our Bradford Head Office, with some remote working. There is also a requirement to work 13 Saturdays per year (6 hours). 


  • Develop and lead Health & Safety critical risk management strategies and processes including construction, design and maintenance

  • Provide a Health & Safety management framework for our Maintenance, Construction and Projects teams to ensure safety

  • Deliver Group Health & Safety compliance monitoring programmes

  • Develop and Lead Fire Protection Strategies across all divisions

  • Proactively drive contractor and stakeholder meetings to build engagement and improvement 

  • Lead improvement in the event of any Health & Safety concerns being identified including enforcement activity

  • Listening & responding to colleagues at all levels with the goal of continually improving our Safety Culture and reducing risk

  • Lead our Property related Safety training programme

  • Lead the independent audit program across all areas of Group Property

  • Lead actions from the Property Risk Register H&S section

  • Provide Governance reports in a clear and consistent format 

  • Horizon scan for future risks, requirements and effect of business development

About You

  • Post graduate experience in Health & Safety Management in Construction/ Property

  • Expert technical knowledge of Health & Safety, Fire Safety  and Construction Legislation, its requirements and implementation 

  • NEBOSH National Construction Certificate (necessary)

  • NEBOSH diploma (desirable) 

  • Member of relevant professional organisation and undergoing CPD 

  • Proactive, engaging and motivating, with the ability to influence all parts of the organisation through exemplary communication & interpersonal skills

  • Ability to set up and govern Health & Safety digital management systems

  • Personal resilience and tenacity

  • A track record of achieving and building a “best in class” Safety Culture in a complex organisation across multiple sites/stores and teams
