About The Role

We are currently looking for a Cafe Trading Specialist to join our Cafe Central Operations team in Hilmore House for a 12 month fixed term contract/secondment opportunity. This role will deliver central Operational support to the Customer Cafe and Staff Room, supporting the delivery of a simpler and improved operation.  

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing communication, reporting and operational guidelines to over 400 stores, working with a digital mindset to create and embed innovative ways of working for our hospitality teams.

The UK’s 4th largest supermarket, we serve more than 11 million customers every week at around 500 stores. So, the potential for our cafés is massive. Especially as we ensure the quality of our fresh food by making most of it ourselves.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Constantly striving to make the customer journey and operation simpler and quicker in each of our locations

  • Representing the voice of the customer to the central team to help inform key decisions making

  • Providing our Specialists and store colleagues all the the right tools to do the job to drive improvement and consistency

  • Being the gate-keeper of customer contact, mystery diner and logwood systems reporting, liaising with stakeholders both internally and externally

  • Writing all Customer Cafe and Staff Room store communication day to day, events and for key launches

  • Keeping the Communities Hub up to date and continuously improving the usability 

  • Listen and responding to colleague facebook and continuing to showcase best practice and tips 

  • Supporting the feedback to the Specialist inputs. 

  • Systems improvement and upkeep i.e. tills and stock which are currently complex and exceptionally manual and give no visibility of true stock loss as an example . This is to improve both equipment and processes. 

  • Upkeep of all standard operating procedures and training manuals across Cafe, Staff Room and advising on Barista as needed. 

  • Providing all store facing reporting to the Specialists Team in particular. 

  • Driving improvements in stock management and till systems which are antiquated and not fit for purpose 

  • Engaging Retail on all sales driving focus

  • Supporting the Buyers Assistant with operational insight into the Cafe 

About You

About you 

So that you are set for success, we are looking for a self-starter, who is an exceptional communicator with the ability to influence at all levels. You will work as part of a versatile team with a can-do culture, so it’s important that you are tenacious and strive for excellence. 

  • Understanding of hospitality operations to enable you to improve our cafe operating model, particularly the link to all IT elements and how we communicate with our teams and the wider business to land operational improvement

  • The ability to inspire others to deliver the Cafe agenda and the knowledge to implement the levers required to enable the change

  • Outstanding communication, collaborative working and engagement skills with the ability to tailor style to meet situational needs

  • Experience adapting to and supporting change 

  • Experience of maintaining great customer experience and service standards
