As a result of growth, we are looking for an Accountant who will join our Tax team. located at our Head Office in Thornbury, Bradford. The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant, ideally having started or achieved a tax qualification, with excellent attention to detail and well-developed communication and interpersonal abilities.

What this role will be doing…

Morrisons consistently ranks as one of the largest taxpayers in the UK and contributes over £1bn to the UK Government each year. As a Tax Accountant you will work as part of the Group Tax Team and assist the Tax Managers with delivery of Group Tax Policy You will have responsibility for the following:

  • Prepare corporation tax returns

  • Process corporation tax payments

  • Maintain accurate tax accounting records and prepare tax disclosures for Group and subsidiary accounts

  • Research changes in direct tax legislation and the direct tax treatment of non-routine transactions

  • Support  the Tax Managers projects including capital allowance claims and R&D claims

  • Prepare replies to HMRC enquiries where necessary



About You

So that you are set for success, we are looking for a self-starter, who is a strong communicator with the ability to influence at all levels. You will work as part of a versatile team with a can-do culture, so it’s important that you are tenacious and committed. You will also have:

  • Accounting qualification/certificate (CIMA / ACCA / ACA or equivalent)

  • Experienced of working in an accounting/finance environment (min 3 years).

  • Analytical skills

  • Attention to detail with ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload to meet agreed deadlines

  • Stakeholder relationship management skills (both internal and external)

  • Ability to work constructively with colleagues across the business
