About The Role

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Property Team for a 12 month industrial Placement as a Location Planning and Market Analysis Advisor. This placement will focus on detailed and robust research & analysis to support the Location Planning and wider Property team including research into grocery competition activity, supporting the Location Planning function with the provision of timely and accurate maps, data and reports. Providing efficient admin, planning and ad hoc spatial analysis, and will support the regular forecasting and ad hoc projects.
 
The role will include:
 
● Provide and collate competitor information and data to inform the network strategy and ensure store developments are appropriate to local customers, and ensure the strategy is alive document
● Support the Location Planning and Property team by providing regular data and analysis.
● Help to deliver competitor insight that visibly impacts upon strategic decisions i.e. Defensive plans to counteract new competitor openings
● Update the internal competitor database using future store planning updates and other available sources to ensure all analysis is based on accurate information
● Become a functional expert in Location Planning systems and tools together with the new store planning process and competitor new store development strategies.
● Support the store and impact sales forecasting process by producing data, maps, reports and other material leading to more accurate sales forecasting
● Work as an integral part of any confidential ad hoc project teams

About You

● Be studying for a Geography or closely related degree discipline
● Have an understanding of UK planning process and good knowledge of competitor store formats and size measurements is an advantage
● Good understanding of maps, geography and GIS tools
● Ability to work in a team and under your own initiative with intermediate proficiency in using Excel. GIS experience is preferable, as is an understanding of Alteryx
● Strong logical thinking, strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
● Experience in data management would be useful
● Ability to build strong relationships at all levels with the ability to influence.
● Customer focussed with a positive attitude
