For the last 7 years Morrisons has continued to recruit and invest in our Engineering Apprenticeship Scheme and to date we have recruited a total of 107 candidates who are either on their journey to becoming a Multi Skilled Engineer or have successfully completed their course and are working in one of our Manufacturing sites. We have exciting opportunities at Greenside Manufacturing, Bradford and Rathbones Bakery, Wakefield both based in West Yorkshire.
At the UK’s biggest fresh foods factory Greenside, we produce our bacon, quiches, pies, sausages, gammon and cooked meats .Here at our 400,000 square foot site, our 1,500-strong team produces 277 fresh food products. Operating 24/7, they run 44 production lines and manage six different operations all under one roof in our state-of-the-art building. Every day 72 vehicles leave packed full of our freshly prepared products.
Rathbones is our only bakery which means it’s always incredibly busy. Our 400 strong team works 24/7 to produce 47 different products, from hot cross buns and seeded loaves to delicious orange and cranberry muffins, crumpets, pancakes, naans, pittas, and more.Not to mention frozen products for our in-store bakeries and, of course, our famous Rathbones Toastie. With lots of different roles, a wide choice of shift patterns, and plenty of challenges, it has variety well and truly baked in.
As an Engineering Apprentice, you’ll work hands on and side by side with our seasoned engineers, mastering the art of maintaining, repairing and improving our machinery. It’s a great opportunity to gain practical skills and knowledge in engineering while working with a supportive team. Your daily tasks will include:
- Troubleshooting and repairing equipment
- Learning about electrical and mechanical system
- Assisting in equipment installation and upgrades
- Participating in continuous improvements
- Conducting preventative maintenance tasks
By the end of your apprenticeship you will:
✅ Be trained in both mechanical and electrical engineering maintenance
✅ Completed City & Guilds Level 3 in Food and Drink Engineering Maintenance
✅ Have strong knowledge of food safety, compliance and processing
This is a 3 year apprenticeship scheme and will include residential block release (up to 20 weeks away from home) for studies and exams. Our apprentice scheme offers a very competitive salary and benefits packages.
