For the last 7 years Morrisons has continued to recruit and invest in our Engineering Apprenticeship Scheme and to date we have recruited a total of 107 candidates who are either on their journey to becoming a Multi Skilled Engineer or have successfully completed their course and are working in one of our Manufacturing sites. We have exciting opportunities at Flaxby Produce and Chippendales Eggs based in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire.
Our Flaxby site is the only place where we source our carrots and onions, which means it’s one example of our true farm to fork process. And with a state-of-the-art carrot washer and grader, it’s an industry-leading facility that’s committed to processing carrots and onions faster and smarter than ever.
Our specialist egg grading facility provides our stores with 10 million eggs every week . Our newly extended site covers 105,000 square feet. Our operation here involves grading eggs from 1.6 million hens which come from our 57 farms. Here our operational team on site ensures we achieve the highest quality standards and provide free range and enjoy the highest possible welfare standards.
As an Engineering Apprentice, you’ll work hands on and side by side with our seasoned engineers, mastering the art of maintaining, repairing and improving our machinery. It’s a great opportunity to gain practical skills and knowledge in engineering while working with a supportive team. Your daily tasks will include:
- Troubleshooting and repairing equipment
- Learning about electrical and mechanical system
- Assisting in equipment installation and upgrades
- Participating in continuous improvements
- Conducting preventative maintenance tasks
By the end of your apprenticeship you will:
✅ Be trained in both mechanical and electrical engineering maintenance
✅ Completed City & Guilds Level 3 in Food and Drink Engineering Maintenance
✅ Have strong knowledge of food safety, compliance and processing
This is a 3 year apprenticeship scheme and will include residential block release (up to 20 weeks away from home) for studies and exams. Our apprentice scheme offers a very competitive salary and benefits packages.
