Technology Specialist - Linux

An exciting modernisation and transformation journey is underway at Morrisons and our Technology teams are working together to improve how technology is used across our business as well as how we deliver it. An opportunity has come up for an experienced Red Hat Linux professional to join our Technology team at our head office in Bradford, West Yorkshire.

You'll be responsible for:

• The operational effectiveness of all Morrisons’ Linux and Unix based technologies.
• Day to day responsibilities will include: OS and image management, service improvement, capacity planning, configuration, maintenance, patching, incident and problem management, monitoring and alerting as well as audit and compliance.
• Providing, implementing and advising on best practices and security.
• Contributing to the development of the Linux platform roadmap.
• Providing technical leadership and coaching for Technology Analysts in the team.
• Providing out of hours support.

You'll ideally have the following skills and experience:

• Proven background in Linux System Administration (Red Hat).
• Proven background in Unix Operating Systems (HP-UX desirable).
• Current RHCSA would be advantageous.
• Previous experience operating a central and distributed enterprise environment.
• Understanding of NFS/NAS/SAN storage.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills demonstrated through managing complex issue remediation.
• Virtualisation experience, preferably VMware Oracle VM or HP Integrity VM.
