About The Role

The successful candidate will actively lead the Safe & Legal and Security agenda for the South West with support from two Compliance Specialists. The objective is to support the safeguarding of our colleagues, customers and assets. You’ll also focus on driving continuous improvement which will require you to report and communicate key metrics for Food Safety, Health & Safety, Trading Standards and Crime & Security. The role will have to work closely with the Operational teams who will be implementing our safe systems and processes on a daily basis.


Role Measurement:

 

  • Support the development & embedding of the strategic plan for achieving strong Compliance - to drive standards and reduce risk

  • Use business data to assess risk, flag trends with the business & direct resource accordingly

  • Support Retail on incident and accident management with involvement in the most serious incidents and monitoring of retail compliance on all others

  • Coach retail teams to deliver Legal and procedural compliance across Safe & Legal and Loss Prevention

  • Support improvement plans for our worst performing stores to reduce risk and  deliver compliance across store processes & physical equipment

  • Support the design and delivery of an upskilling programme for Retail 

  • Leadership designed to engage, train and embed improved management processes

  • Improve Shrink performance within their region and across the business

  • Recommendations to continuously improve Loss Prevention process 

  • Lead a team of Regional Specialists to drive Safe & Legal and Crime & Security compliance across the estate

About You

Accountabilities:


Customer


  • Provide direction to the business to uphold standards, maintain compliance and ensure Colleague and Customer Safety

  • Provide performance reports and insight reports using company data to highlight risks and opportunities. Highlight divisional trends and propose actions / remedies to address this

  • Ensure action plans are robust and sufficient to drive and embed long term improvements - track to close out and escalate as required

  • Provide a reaction support service in the event of serious incidents

  • Co-ordinate Store audits to identify risk, communicate findings and escalate appropriately


Colleague


  • Lead develop and motivate the Regional Specialists

  • Set, monitor, review and measure performance of the team

  • Build strong relationships with the retail management team, including regional meeting attendance, driving a culture of risk and loss management, influencing to drive performance

  • Provide insight and clear actions to prioritise activity and minimise risk

  • Be the key contact for the field teams and a subject matter expert in order to provide support

  • Coordinate and provide training to Retail to support them to manage risk and loss


Operational


  • Work in partnership with the central Loss Prevention and Safe & Legal team to deliver business strategy

  • Lead the team to use a risk based approach, to assess and judge where to spend time and where to change systems and processes

  • Influence senior stakeholders, securing their support to achieve risk and loss objectives

  • Provide support to investigate and manage enforcement failures and complaints 

  • Ensure retail compliance in maintaining high standards of safety & loss management in stores.

  • Contribute to audit questions and stocktake best practice


Sales, Profit and Cash


  • Protect the brand, our colleagues & property through consistent compliance & management of risk & loss.

  • Control costs and spend in line with budget 

  • Deliver an improvement in the worst performing stores to align them with Estate performance or better in all key metrics.
