About The Role

 

As a Sustainability Specialist, you will work with key stakeholders to develop and implement a program of sustainability activities across our Manufacturing sites. You will be responsible for sustainability programmes and initiatives impacting all sites that make things better for customers & simpler for colleagues. Your focus will be energy, carbon and water footprints, management of food waste and reduction in plastics and packaging.


We have three exciting new roles, working with our Meat division, Chilled, Bakery, Eggs and Fish sites or Produce and Horticulture division.


Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and provide reports for management team for use in Sustainability internal and external reporting

  • Strong focus on financial and customer improvement as well as sustainability

  • Drive collaboration and clear ways of working across manufacturing, commercial and finance teams 

  • Drive and support sustainability metrics across resourcing, talent and training, so colleagues understand the part they can play to deliver the sustainability agenda.  

  • Lead the delivery of specific sustainability programmes for key customers for the manufacturing business.

  • Devise ways to reduce food waste from across the manufacturing sites

  • Drive collaboration and clear ways of working across manufacturing, commercial and finance teams (site & central) to deliver a return to the investments.

  • You will review and challenge site & central teams to drive performance.  

  • Regular reporting to a broad set of senior stakeholders on spend, management/challenge of deviations and ways of working that drive yearly budget building and sign-off process.


About You

For this role, we’re looking for someone who has:
 
  • Experience in project delivery, analysing data, researching topics and preparing reports 

  • Project Management to  driving change and improvement across a broad range of areas and diverse mix of stakeholders (ideally multi-site) 

  • Experience working in a Manufacturing environment is highly desirable

  • Knowledge of food production chains, agriculture and regulated food manufacturing operations 

  • Understand challenges for farming and food production locally and globally 

  • Knowledge of Programme and Project Management methodologies to track and deliver improvement objectives  

  • The ability to understand customers requirements, anticipate their needs and respond to their feedback 

  • Previous experience of reporting and data presentation

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and statutory requirements

  • Strong oral and written communications skills

  • Strong stakeholder management, influencing and negotiation skills

  • Strong excel skills

  • Ability and commitment to drive change.

  • Experience of delivering environment and/or sustainability projects within a business

  • Knowledge and experience of continuous improvements in sustainability performance

Our modern Head Office on the edge of Bradford is home to our different support teams from tech, marketing and finance to HR, trading and supply chain. You will also travelling to the manufacturing sites on a regular basis when required

*The four day working week comes with the requirement to work 11 Saturdays per year. These days are shorter (six hours in total) and are mainly used for personal development, quarterly team meetings and supporting our store and site colleagues.
