About The Role

The Technical Manager (Food and Safety) will make a significant contribution in supporting our stores to uphold all elements of food safety and legality. The Technical Manager will report into the Head of Risk, Compliance and Loss Prevention to ensure the safety of our customers, colleagues and the legality of the brand whilst working with external and internal stakeholders to meet objectives and drive improvements in compliance.
 
Some of your responsibilities will include:
 
  • Proactively build engagement with the senior teams
  • Manage and coordinate activity where serious safety or legality concerns have been identified
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage the Stores at Risk process, audits and investigation reports
  • Proactively identify any training requirements and support the development of new training packages
  • Improve Food Safety standards across all stores
  • Manage the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme Improvement plan
 
This is an office based role operating over a 4 day working week. This role is based at our fantastic head office in Bradford. Boasting an on-site restaurant, coffee shop, convenience and sample store, prayer room, free parking and regular company-wide events and promotions. Ideally, applicants will live within a reasonable distance of our office.

About You

For this role, we’re looking for someone who has:
 
  • A strong understanding of food safety and quality management systems
  • You'll hold a degree in Microbiology, Food Science, Food Technology or a related discipline
  • You'll hold a HACCP qualification to at least an intermediate level
  • Proven experience and in depth knowledge of food safety legislation, catering, retail or manufacturing and the required food safety controls
  • Knowledge and experience of Food Safety audit
  • Proactive attitude, analytical thinker and strong problem solving skills
  • Ability to coach to drive performance improvements across the team
