Accountant - Stock

We’re recruiting for an Accountant to join our Finance Team based in our head office in Bradford. You will report in to one of our Finance Managers and be responsible for the support and delivery of company-wide transactions and processes supporting the overall strategic objectives. To deliver financial and business performance, ensuring that your thinking is Customer first in all aspects of your role, improving processes and outputs through simplifying tasks.

Key responsibilities include:

• Daily cross functional working to help resolve problems across the full end to end stock flow process to ensure accuracy and integrity of stock systems and financial reporting.

• Day to day line management of one of the Assistant Accountants in the team in addition to supporting the other junior members of the team in completion of weekly and periodic reporting and reconciliations and ad-hoc queries.

• Regular communication and working with other financial teams across Morrisons including Wholesale, Online, Commercial, Loss Prevention and the Financial Operations teams to help identify financial risks and opportunities and work collectively to improve overall financial performance

• Period end duties include accurate completion of multiple balance sheets,  investigation into all variances through data analysis and liaising with various finance teams and posting of journals.    

• Regular use of Oracle BI reporting and both microsoft and oracle SQL queries to generate data to analyse and manipulate in excel to understand and resolve stock issues.  

• Continuous improvement of existing processes in the Stock team to help improve efficiency of the team to free up more time for value added work.

• Key involvement in supporting the business with the decommissioning of the multiple old world systems such as mainframe, aiding in the design of the new systems and processes to ensure system integrity and continued accurate stock reporting and accounting throughout transition.
